Cross Roads Soup Kitchen

All of us are facing some degree of uncertainty and unexpected challenges right now.  Many of our neighbors are struggling.
At a time like this, the needs of a community can seem overwhelming. But, at St. Mary’s, we have longstanding relationships with Lake Orion and Oakland County social service providers so that it’s easy to reach out and help.

Below is a list of some of the organizations that we support as a parish. Please take time to follow the links to their websites or contact us if you would like to get involved.

  • Love INC – Since opening in 2007, they have helped close to 1000 people in our community by providing prayers, pots and pans and everything in between. St. Mary’s is the hosting church for the Household Budget Ministry of Love INC. This is a ministry that works with people in financial crisis, helping them budget and manage themselves into a stable financial position. Please visit this site to learn more about this transformative coalition of churches.
  • Lighthouse of Oakland County – One of the primary focuses of the Lighthouse programs is to provide transitional housing for women and children for a period of up to two years while those families get themselves back on track.
  • CROP Hunger Walk- Several churches in our community sign up walkers and work together to organize a day of walking to raise awareness and funds for international relief and development, as well as local hunger-fighting.
  • Oxford / Orion FISH – A local food distribution agency. St. Mary’s has a 3rd Sunday of the month food collection as well as seasonal food basket collections for this organization.
  • Crossroads of Michigan – A soup kitchen and clothing necessities distribution agency. Over 600 meals are served on any given Sunday. St. Mary’s parishoners serve lunch there at least one Sunday per year.
  • Episcopal Relief and Development – The international aide body of our church,
  • South Oakland Shelter (SOS)- They partner with over sixty faith-based organizations and individual volunteers dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness. Each week, one of these communities of faith open their hearts and doors to provide shelter, meals, transportation, recreation, and compassion to homeless men, women, and children.
