6th - 7th Grade Rite 13 is the beginning of the Journey to Adulthood Curriculum and lasts for approxiamately two years. The lesson plans are specifically designed to meet the needs of youth in early adolescence with a focus on community, exploring oneself as a child of God and the youth's personal spiritiual and physical passage into manhood and womanhood. The youth stays with his or her Rite 13 community all the way through High School for approxiamately 6-7 years. The congregation celebrates, as a rite of passage into manhood and womanhood, the youth's 13th birthday with a special Rite 13 liturgy during worship.
Journey to Adulthood "J2A" J2A is the second step in the Journey to Adulthood Curriculum and lasts for another two years. The lesson plans are designed for the youth in this stage of early to middle adolescence with a focus on the spiritual and emotional journey to adulthood. Two actions are celebrated at the end of J2A. One action is a Holy pilgrimage with the J2A community and the second action is confirmation.
Young Adults in Church "YAC" YAC is the final step in the Journey to Adulthood Curriculum and last 2 to 3 years or until the youth is graduated from High School. The lesson plans are designed for the youth in this stage of middle to late adolescence with a focus on taking responsibility and being leaders in the church and in the community as well as the ongoing and deeper relationship and journey with God into Adulthood. |
