The Reverend Christine Humphrey
Pastor Chris began serving St. Mary’s in January of 1995. Before coming to St. Mary’s, she served as a part-time associate at Trinity Episcopal Church in Farmington Hills. Chris began her ordained ministry at All Saints’, Pontiac. She was ordained a priest on April 20, 1991.

Chris received her seminary training at St. Cyril and Methodius Roman Catholic Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan and at Bexley Hall Episcopal Seminary in Rochester, New York. She completed her seminary training in 1989.
Chris was a public school teacher in the West Bloomfield School District for 20 years prior to ordination. She taught elementary school. Chris was also involved in the teacher’s union serving as Grievance Chairperson for many years as well as being involved in bargaining both at the local and county levels.
Chris has a sister and a brother, both of whom live in Michigan. She has 1 niece and 4 nephews, 4 great-nephews and 3 great-nieces. Chris’ father was also an Episcopal priest, entering the priesthood after years as a social worker.
Chris enjoys reading, especially mysteries and history. She also needlepoints and enjoys gardening. Her newest interest is sailing, having purchased a 30 year-old 26 foot sailboat 2 years ago currently located in Charlevoix, Michigan. Chris explains that she could not afford a place on the water, but she could afford one in the water. The only problem now is that she wants to sail it, too!
